영국 모던 워십의 근간을 이루고 있는 팀인 딜리리어스의 신작. 영국에서 지난 11월 7일 발매되었고 미국 출반은 아직 대기 상태다. 커팅 엣지라는 밴드명으로 활동하던 당시 이들의 소개한 예배곡들중 태반이 전 세계의 교회에서 불리고 있을만큼 이들의 끼친 영향력은 대단하다. 이후 이들은 예배 음악뿐만 아니라 보다더 '그들의 것'을 드러내는 컨템퍼러리 사운드에 무게를 실기 시작했는데, 해를 거듭할 수록 이런 변화는 더욱 심화되었다. 그러나 한편으로는 선이 뚜렷한 찬양의 메시지 또한 그들의 음악의 큰 줄기로 이어져 왔는데, [Mission Bell]은 이 줄기를 보다 더 굵직하게 계승하고 있다. "Now is the Time", "Miracle Maker", "Our God Reigns" 등이 이런 줄기에 해당될만한 곡들이다. 수록곡들을 장식하는 사운드 역시 다채로운데, 락 본연의 그런지한 사운드는 물론 코러스들이 동반된 회중 찬양의 분위기, 혹은 이런 스타일의 접목이 앨범 안에서 다양하게 결합하고 있다. 다양성에 크게 한 몫하는 것은 게스트 보컬들이다. 한때 크리스천 음악 역사를 장식했던 디씨 토크의 리더였고, 2001년부터 시작한 솔로 활동을 왕성하게 이어온 토비맥이 "Solid Rock"에서 입담좋은 랩을 들려주고 있고, 뉴에이지 싱어 엔야를 배출해낸 그룹 클래너드의 리더였던 모야 브레넌 (그녀는 엔야의 친 언니이기도 하다)이 "I'll See You"에서 은은한 백그라운드 보컬로 참가하고 있다. 브레넌은 한때 U2의 보노와도 작업을 같이 한적이 있는데, 크리스천 음악계의 U2라고 불리우는 딜리리어스와의 이번 작업은 그런 점에서 의미 심장하다. 12월 개봉예정인 영화 [나니아 연대기]의 사운드트랙에 수록된 "Stronger" 외에 모두 12곡이 수록되어 있다. 이미 영국 출반 직후 현지 팬들의 압도적인 지지를 얻고 있는 앨범. 딜리리어스만의 음악적인 개성, 그리고 현대 예배 음악의 현주소를 확인하고 싶은 마니아들에게 추천할 만한 앨범이다. 글 : 유재혁 (인피니스 웹기자 / ccmpage.com)
